E-Waste, Shred, Compost, Earth Day


One of our favorite days of the year is just around the corner! 

Come on down Saturday, April 22 to Town Hall and dispose of your E-Waste and Paper Documents. Don't forget to bring bags and shovels for FREE compost.

This event is Free and open to all Atherton Residents.

So come on down and dump your stuff!

Saturday, June 4 10AM - 1PM

As usual, the event will take place in the parking lot directly behind the Police Department parking lot at Town Hall. (Corner of Dinkelspiel and Fair Oaks)

Bring paper documents and confidential materials for safe and secure onsite shredding and unwanted electronics for recycling.

SHREDDING is limited to three standard bankers boxes (10” x 12” x 15”) per household.

ELECTRONICS accepted for recycling include televisions, computer monitors, personal computers, DVD players, printers, cables/cords, cell phones, MP3 players, laptops, fax machines, keyboards, stereos, storage discs, tape and zip drives, UPS power supply units, video game consoles, VCRs and more!

Each resident is welcome to take up to 1 CUBIC YARD of nutrient rich compost to enrich their gardens.* (this is equivalent to 6 full garbage cans)

Atherton residents only

It is BYOB — please bring your own shovels, gloves and containers.

Earth Day

Earth Day Celebration


This year's event falls on the same day as our Earth Day celebration. 

Please join us for our 2017 Atherton Earth Day celebration starting at 10 A.M.  and ending at 1 P.M. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Town Center (Ashfield Road and Dinkelspiel Station Lane). The Town’s Environmental Programs Committee, Recology and the Atherton Library are teaming up to bring you: free garden mulch, e-waste safe recycling, secure shredding, eco-friendly 3-D printing, the San Mateo County Bookmobile, earth friendly planting, family friendly experiments, free yoga classes, our ever popular Student Challenge, and much more.

We are excited to have the Pure Juice Organics juice truck provide fresh pressed juice and Acai bowls. Admission is free.  Bring your family and your curiosity.
