The ISO rating for a fire department, also known as the ISO Public Protection Classification (PPC), is a rating system created by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) to evaluate the effectiveness of a fire department's response capabilities to fires and other emergencies. Insurance companies may use the ISO rating to help determine the cost of fire insurance for properties within a given area. The ISO evaluates a community's fire protection services using the Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (FSRS) and assigns a PPC score that ranges from "1" to "10." A score "1" representing the highest level of protection and "10" indicating a lack of fire protection.
The Menlo Park Fire Protection Agency is classified as an ISO PPC Class 2 agency.
